About PDF Compressor

Rebuilds a PDF's internal structure using modern, more compact object streams, directly in your browser. This genuinely shrinks PDFs that were produced by older tools or saved many times over (common after repeated edits), sometimes significantly.

What this doesn't do: re-compress or downsize embedded images. If a PDF is large mainly because of high-resolution photos inside it, this tool won't make much difference — that's a fundamentally different, much riskier kind of change this tool deliberately doesn't attempt. An already compact, modern PDF may also see little or no improvement, and this tool will tell you plainly if that happens rather than pretending otherwise.

Frequently asked questions

Do my PDFs get uploaded anywhere?+

No — compression happens entirely in your browser. Your PDF file and its contents are never sent to a server.

How does this actually reduce file size?+

It rebuilds the PDF's internal structure using modern, more compact object streams. This genuinely helps PDFs produced by older tools, or ones saved many times over (common after repeated edits) — sometimes significantly.

Will this shrink a PDF that's large because of photos inside it?+

Not meaningfully — this tool doesn't re-compress or downsize embedded images, which is a different, much riskier kind of change. If a PDF's size mainly comes from high-resolution images, expect little difference.

What if my PDF doesn't get smaller?+

That can happen for an already well-structured, modern PDF — there's sometimes nothing left to optimize. You'll see this plainly in the result, and can keep your original file with one click rather than downloading a file that didn't actually shrink.

Does this work with password-protected PDFs?+

No — an encrypted or password-protected PDF is detected and flagged rather than silently failing or attempting to bypass the password.

Is this tool free?+

Yes, completely free with no sign-up.
